Most people still copy-paste AI output into a doc. Claude Cowork can go further: your ask can end as a real file on your Mac. Example: “Turn the numbers in my folder into a board deck.” 🌱 YOU ASK — one line in plain English. Then Cowork pulls from: 📁 Your folder — connected local files 🔌 Connectors — Notion, Drive, Slack via MCP 🧠 Context — CLAUDE.md + relevant history 🔵 PLAN — Claude chooses the steps and the right skill. Then: ⚙️ RUN CODE — Python/pandas/charts inside an isolated Linux sandbox 📐 FORMAT — PPTX, DOCX, XLSX, using the required structure/template 🔵 DRAFT → REVIEW → FILE 📄 The deliverable gets saved back to the connected folder. The important part: the sandbox is not your Mac. It’s isolated. Only the folders/resources you explicitly connect are available. So the real Cowork mental model is: Ask → Context → Plan → Code → Format → Review → File Not just Ask → Chat → Copy/Paste. IT ENDS AS A FILE, NOT A CHAT. That’s the shift: the model is only part of the workflow. Your files, connectors, code, context, and output format do most of the last-mile work.
